Fast Forward a Few Centuries..

This started off as my trying to draw an older version of Yachiru. And of course, Yachiru without Kenpachi is like peanut butter without chocolate.

I also figured that he probably would have changed his hairstyle after, what, 300/400 years, if Yachiru's supposed to be in her 20's? Not to mention the fact that the spiky, jester hat-esque design would not fit on the scrap paper I used. So you see.

Yachiru is probably being a smart-ass about something, or terrifying 11th Division newcomers. Kenpachi, meanwhile, is coming to the realization that some things never change.

On a more serious note, these are two of my favorite characters in Bleach. I love their bizarre, zany dynamic that has a very touching undertone to it.... it sort of reminds me of the demon Sesshomaru and the little human girl, Rin, from that series Inu-Yasha. (I gave up on that one because it dragged on too long, but those two I liked.)

It's the same idea of a wandering, haggard soul with very little meaning left in his life, who happens upon a bright, happy anomaly: while the two are under the impression that it is him saving her all the time, everyone else knows that it is really her saving him.

Neither of them belong to me.
